The uP8801R is a 3A ultra low dropout linear regulatorspecifically designed for motherboard and notebookapplications. This device works with dual supplies, a controlinput for the control circuitry and a power input as low as1.2V for providing current to output. The uP8801R delivershigh-current and ultra-low-drop output voltage as low as0.8V for applications where VOUT is very close to VIN.The uP8801R features comprehensive control andprotection functions: a power on reset (POR) circuit formonitoring both control and power inputs for properoperation; an EN input for enabling or disabling the device,a power OK with time delay for indicating the output voltagestatus, a current limit function, and a thermal shutdownfunction.

The uP8801R is available in PSOP-8L, VDFN6x5-8L orWDFN3x3-10L packages with very low thermal resistance.
